WordPress.com había anunciado que estaban introduciendo Reduction en sus funciones principales y permitir que sus usuarios lo utilicen al escribir sus publicaciones de Blog, páginas y comentarios.
Cuando se agregan nuevas funciones al ecosistema de WordPress.com, es una apuesta bastante buena que en poco tiempo se agregarán al software de WordPress.org. Los fanáticos de Markdown han estado esperando esta adición durante mucho tiempo. Sin embargo, no hay duda de que una gran parte de los usuarios no tienen idea de qué es Markdown y por qué lo usarían.
Even though Markdown is new to WordPress.com, it has been available to use on WordPress.org for some time with the use of a simple plugin. One of these plugins, which we will talk about a bit later, has been downloaded almost 25,000 times and has mostly received a 5-star review from its users.
This tells us that it is popular and well built, but even though there are users who love Markdown and the plugin that we are going to discuss, there is still a large percentage of the user base that does not know anything about it yet.
So let's talk about it now.
What is Markdown?
Markdown es un sistema de formato de texto sin formato creado en 2004 por John Gruber y Aaron Swartz. Fue desarrollado para permitir a las persons componer texto con un formato rico para la Web. En su forma más básica, Markdown es una herramienta de conversion de texto a HTML para escritores web. Cuando se usa, convierte texto a XHTML y HTML estructuralmente válidos.
It is a system that can be learned quickly due to its simplicity and reduces the possible errors that occur when trying to format text with HTML code.

Why should you use Markdown?
Markdown is a very useful tool because it is extremely easy to use and very quick to learn. Use special characters and punctuation to indicate style and links. The characters used show how the document will be formatted and help to design plain text documents for easy viewing. When the document is published on the web, these characters are converted to the appropriate style and format.
Writing in Markdown is extremely clean. As you use it, the formatting is translated into full HTML styles. You don't have to worry about losing closing tags or improperly nested tags. No inline styling is required, which means it won't break any of the formats once it's posted to the web.
Al mismo tiempo es una sintaxis flexible y portátil de usar. Le posibilita generar documentos en múltiples formatos. Aún cuando estamos discutiendo específicamente su uso con WordPress, al mismo tiempo es fácil crear ese contents sin conexión en un documento de texto y pegarlo de forma directa en su ventana de edición. Esta flexibilidad al mismo tiempo le posibilita convertirlo a un PDF con estilo u otros formatos sin tener que realizar ningún cambio.
Using Markdown with WordPress
Even though Markdown has yet to be introduced into the main WordPress software, it is extremely easy to add with a single plugin.
There are several plugins that you can install to use Markdown on your blog, but in this post I will talk about one called WP-Markdown. Once you have installed and activated the plugin, you are offered several new options within the WordPress dashboard settings menu.
Under the Settings> Write menu you can change the options to enable Markdown on posts, pages, and comments. This menu enables you to enable the help bar for the post and comment editor, as well as enable a syntax highlighter option to help you get used to using Markdown.
As you use Markdown in your posts, the post editor window splits into two separate sections. The main window is used to write your post and below this window you are presented with the post, in full style. This window updates in real time, allowing you to quickly confirm that your style syntax is correct.

Markdown may not be for everyone. But for those who want a quick and clean method of creating posts without worrying about HTML or slowing down by removing hands from the keyboard, it can be a typing method that suits your needs.
It's not as expansive as using HTML to create your styling options, but it will cover the vast majority of them and surely those styling options that the 90% of the time will use.
