Fix Controller Power State Failure in Windows 10

Before we go any further, let's discuss how to enable the Legacy Advanced Boot Menu so that you can easily enter Safe Mode:

1. Restart your Windows 10.

2.As the system reboots enter BIOS setup and configure your PC to boot from CD / DVD.

3.Insert the Windows 10 bootable installation DVD and restart your PC.

4.When you are prompted to press any key to boot from a CD or DVD, press any key to continue.

5.Select your language preferences and click Next. 6. Click Repair your computer at the bottom left.

6.On the option selection screen, click Troubleshooting.

7.On the troubleshooting screen, click the Advanced option.

8.On the advanced options screen, click Command Prompt.

9. When the command (CMD) open type C: and press enter.

10.Now type the following command:

BCDEDIT / SET {DEFECT} LEGACY OF THE BOOTMENUPOLICÍA POLICY

11. And hit enter to activate Legacy's advanced boot menu.

12.Close the Command Prompt and go back to the Choose an option screen, click continue to restart Windows 10.

13.Finally, don't forget to eject the Windows 10 installation DVD, to be able to boot in safe mode.

Method 1: Uninstall the problematic driver

1. When restarting the computer, press F8 to display Advanced Boot Options and select Safe Mode.

2.Press Enter to start Windows 10 in Safe Mode.

3.Press Windows key + R and type "devmgmt.msc" and then press "enter" to open Device Manager.

4.Now inside the Device Manager, you should see the problematic device driver (it has a yellow mark next to it).

5.Once the problem device driver is identified, right-click and select Uninstall.

6. When asked for confirmation, click Ok.

7.Once the driver is uninstalled, restart Windows 10 normally.

Method 2: Check the Windows Minidump file

First, let's make sure the minidumps are activated.

2. Press Windows key + R and type "sysdm.cpl" and then press enter.

3.Go to the advanced tab and click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery.

4. Make sure that the automatic restart in case of system failure is not controlled.

5.Under the heading of Write Debugging Information, select Small memory dump (256 kB) from the drop-down box.

6. Make sure the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%Minidump.

7. Click OK and restart your PC to apply the changes.

8.Now install this program called WhoCrashed.

9.Run WhoCrashed and click Analyze.

11.Finally, update the driver and reboot to apply the changes.

12.Now press Windows key + R and type "msinfo32" and then press enter.

13.In the System Summary make sure all your drivers are up to date.

14. Make sure your BIOS is also up to date, if not, update it.

15.Select Software Environment, and then click Run Tasks.

16. Again make sure the drivers have been updated, that is, no drivers have a file dated 2 years.

17.Restart your PC and this will fix the driver power state failure in Windows 10, but if not then continue.

Method 3: Run the system file check (SFC)

1.In Safe Mode, right-click Start and select Command Prompt (Admin) to open the cmd.

2. Type the following command in cmd: / scannow

3.Let the system file check run, typically takes 5 to 15 minutes. Note: Sometimes you have to run the SFC command 3-4 times to fix the problem.

4.After the process finishes and you receive the following message:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%NRegistrosCBSNCBS.log.

5.Just restart your PC and see if the problem is solved or not.

6.If you receive the following message:

7.Then you have to manually repair the corrupted files, to do this first see the details of the SFC process.

8.On the command line, type the following command and then press ENTER:

Findtr / c: »[SR]» %windir%N-LogsNCBSN-CBS.log> »%user profile%N-Desktopsfcdetails.txt»

9.Open the Sfcdetails.txt file on your desktop.

10.The Sfcdetails.txt file uses the following format: Date / Time SFC detail

11. The following log file example contains an entry for a file that could not be repaired:

12.Now type the following command in cmd:

DISM.exe / Online / Clean-image / Scanhealth && DISM.exe / Online / Clean-image / Restorehealth

This will run the DSIM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) restore commands and correct the SFC errors.

13.After running DISM it is a good idea to run SFC / scannow again to make sure all problems have been fixed.

14. If for some reason the DISM command doesn't work, try this SFCFix tool.

15.Restart your PC and see if you can fix the driver power state failure in Windows 10.

Method 4: Restore your PC to an earlier time

1.Press Windows key + R and type "sysdm.cpl" and then press enter.

2.Select the System Protection tab and choose System Restore.

3. Click Next and choose the desired System Restore point.

4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the system restore.

5. After rebooting, you should have fixed the driver power state fault.
