RSS concept

What is RSS?

RSS is a definition that responds to the acronym of Really Simple Syndication. Is a file format made in XML language that encodes the information in such a way that any online service, program or application can display it as it deems appropriate. That is, it consists of a way of packaging content to facilitate its dissemination and reproduction in other places.

Those who use WordPress or any other content manager will be familiar with this concept, since it is something that is generated automatically to make it easier for them to spread through different platforms.

Although it consists of something quite useful when facilitating dissemination, it only makes sense when you have a tool, service or program that translates it. Anyone can enter RSS from their web browser, but what they access is a mass of text and code that is difficult to read. This is why the figure of feed readers (or feed aggregators) becomes important, since they are in charge of translating that to translate it as a readable document, accompanied by the corresponding images and videos, if any.

Many online portals use this system to spread certain content to which they want to give visibility. From holders of the articles from their blogs to promotions or other content can be moved via RSS to reach a huge audience through many different media.

What is RSS for?

The RSS serves to make the administration and publication of the information that you want much easier within the web scope and even outside it. It saves the reader an enormous amount of time when not only reading, but also looking for news, since they only have to go to an aggregator and determine a series of filters to receive only what falls within their interests.

For companies and brands, it is the most appropriate means to quickly spread the content they want to mobilize. If many users subscribe to your content, they directly provide all your publications directly and easily, without having to have access to the portal or look every so often. The information comes directly and facilitates communication between the two parties.

RSS examples

To give an example of RSS, we can get into the situation of NeoAttack blog, our agency. Using this system, each new entry that appeared in it would be sent directly to the aggregators or feeds, as well as to all those who were subscribed.

In the following link you have several more examples: Examples of different RSS.
