Peter bradshaw pointed out in his analysis for The Guardian what Brooklyn orphans it is pure air in a market full of proposals with little spirit and originality.

"Whatever its flaws, it is a unique and substantial drama, totally unlike anything that cinema has to offer today, although it obviously follows in the wake of the classics of the past," he said.

For his part, Eric Kohn considered that the film is important to highlight insofar as it takes up some valuable elements of the dramas of yesteryear.

"Despite some pacing issues and a myriad of underdeveloped characters, it works quite well as a return to witty and atmospheric studio dramas about private investigators," he said in his IndieWire title.

Sasha Stone praised the responsible and committed work of Edward Norton in the film, since you really notice a fascination and respect for Jonathan Lethem's novel.

“A film at the service of a very good novel by the hand of a director who knows it. At the same time it is a play that has great performances from an actor who knows what makes a performance work, ”he wrote for The Wrap.
