If is one Username from WordPress, probablemente haya oído hablar Jetpack - when it was released to WordPress.org users just over two years ago, it was greeted with a mixture of delight and suspicion.

For those of you who are not familiarizado con el bebé de Automattic, Jetpack incorpora una serie de características populares diferentes (y algunas no tan populares) en un paquete cuidadosamente atado.

But I'm not here to hate Jetpack; after all, I use it myself. me do not for a long time under the wrong impression that it didn't offer much, but I was wrong. While it has its flaws, Jetpack has a lot to love and a lot of features to squeeze out.

In this post, I'll cover just a few of Jetpack's features in detail, but they are my favorites and should only convince you that it is a great option for your WordPress site. If you know very little (or nothing) about Jetpack, or even if you have used it and think that you don't like, keep reading. It has a lot to offer.

Before we start ...

I've already mentioned that there are reasons why people don't like Jetpack. To be honest, I understand your reasoning. It is almost definitely it is It is intended to be a vehicle for delivering premium services and can be a bit overbearing in its implementation, but you always have the option to ignore premium offerings. In my opinion, the advantage (in other words, all the free features) is well worth noting.

There it is In spite of everything, only one thing that I don't like about it, and that is the automatic activation function. Basically, if a new module is added to the Jetpack plugin, it will be activated by default on your site. Luckily, there is an easy solution for this: just install and enable manual control for the Jetpack plugin. This prevents automatic activation of new features and gives you full control over the functionality of your site.

With that out of the way, let's dive into the fun stuff!

Just connect your social media accounts to Jetpack ...

… And each new post will be published on those accounts:

post-publish-2156008

2. Comments

In the past, I've spent a lot of time deliberating on which commenting system to use. I started with the default (as everyone does), tried Livefyre, and then switched back. IMHO, it can't be beat.

Actually, it turns out you can (a little). Jetpack Comments takes the default commenting system and overloads it with an amazing sauce. Visitors can now log in to leave a comment via Facebook, Twitter, or WordPress.com.

At the same time, the shape looks elegant and sexy and tends to blend in incredibly with its theme:

As you can see, the updated comment system at the same time includes options for visitors to subscribe to new comments and posts (this optional function is controlled by the separate Subscriptions module). Basically commenting and subscribing becomes extremely simple for engaged readers, which is exactly what you want.

3. Share

Personalmente, soy un gran fan from Digg Digg and will continue to use it. But I at once use the Jetpack sharing module:

As you can see, the social sharing options look fantastic and seamlessly integrate with no customization required. My Digg Bar Settings Digg only offers the option to share via Facebook, Twitter, and Google+, but I take the opportunity with Jetpack's Share module to provide readers with a number of options.

At the same time, the location of these share buttons acts as a good reminder of your share option, in case the user does not see the floating Digg Digg sidebar.

4. Contact form

All bloggers need a contact form and Jetpack delivers on that front. Just activate the module and you will see a new button on your post / page screens:

contact-5117013

Press that button and you will get a simple and intuitive screen from which you can build your contact form:

Once you're done, just click the button to add the form and voila! People can now get in touch quickly and easily. Not only that, but if you have at your disposal Akismet instalado en su Blog, los envíos de formularios de contacto se ejecutarán a través de de su sistema antispam para que solo reciba mensajes genuinos.

5. WordPress.com statistics

This has saved me some time since I installed it. Although you almost definitely use Google analytics or another Analytics package like Clicky (I use both), it is worth noting to activate the WordPress.com statistics module (essentially another analysis package).

Why? Because you get analytics data directly from your WordPress dashboard:

wordpress-com-stats-5864824

The WordPress dashboard has a lot of potential in terms of becoming a centralized location for all the data you want to see on a daily basis, and adding WordPress.com stats into the mix makes it that much more functional.

And there is much more….

I'm really just scratching the surface here. Jetpack is currently made up of no less than 25 different modules, each of which has an important role to play if you want their functionality. Other highlights include:

  • Notifications via the toolbar in the site interface
  • A spelling, style and grammar checker based on artificial intelligence
  • A mobile theme
  • URL shortener de WP.me

At the same time, there is even more. For most bloggers, there will be a number of modules that could be of great use, so I urge you to start exploring!

Wait…

You may have a few questions about Jetpack (and feel free to ask them in the comments section below), but there's one that grabs my attention more than most: Can't download individual plugins from WordPress.org that replicate most from Jetpack modules?

My answer to that would be yes and no. Yes, some of the functions of the Jetpack modules are duplicated by means of separate plugins. I already mentioned the Digg Digg plugin, my favorite to share on social networks, for example. So this Contact form 7; an extremely popular contact form plugin. The list goes on.

Regardless, Jetpack offers something other add-ons may not - you are virtually guaranteed beautifully functional and precisely coded functionality that will be continually updated for the foreseeable future. That's a enormous benefit and not one to be ignored.

Each and every Jetpack module that I have used has been integrated with my blog topics without any problem. The added functionality always looks amazing and behaves exactly as expected. What less would you expect from Automattic? That It's Jetpack's main selling point to me - the practical assurance that you're getting a quality product.

Now I would love to have you opinion on Jetpack, so please take this opportunity to make your thoughts known in the comment section below.
