Windows 10 was developed with the aim of developing an operating system to increase user productivity. This is why modern Windows 10 computers have the ability to cast their wireless screens to an external display. Microsoft has a pre-installed and dedicated application - Connect that helps another device to project its screen to the computer. But this feature is very sensitive. It will not work properly if it is not configured correctly. And if a configuration doesn't work correctly, an error is displayed: Projection not working correctly.

This error is due to problems with the display. driver, hardware errors, damaged system files, and more.

Repair wireless signal

To fix the projection error, try to minimize interference from other wireless devices, such as routers or access points, by removing them from the device you want to project to.

  • Make sure your Windows device is visible to your projection device.
  • Disconnect your Windows device from the Wi-Fi network.
  • Sign in screen.

Undo all recent changes

If the projection already worked, and after some software or hardware changes, the function didn't work and the projection error went wrong, there may be something you can do about it.

Installing new software may change projection settings.

So you should cancel all these changes and see if it solves your problems. To do this, uninstall any newly installed software or remove any hardware that you have safely installed on your computer. Make sure the hardware you are removing is turned on when you shut down the computer.

Reset firewall settings

This is not always the case, but from time to time your connection is blocked by the Windows firewall. In some cases, the projection error can cause an obstacle.

To fix it, go to Windows Defender Security Center and select Firewall and Network Protection. Then select Restore Default Firewalls.

This should reset all incoming and outgoing rules. Finally, don't forget to whitelist the device you want to project to.

update device drivers

The pop-up appears because the system may not be able to recognize the monitors. I suggest you update your display drivers as this could force the system to detect available monitors. These are the steps:

  1. Press “Windows + X” and select Device Manager.
  2. Find the driver and expand the driver icon.
  3. Right-click the driver icon and click Update.
