"Dark has the same strengths that helped make shows like The OA and Stranger Things such an atmospheric success," commented Steve Greene in his review of Season 1.

For his part, Jack Seale praised what was done in season 2 of Dark, since the series was established based on a dark plot that becomes more and more complex.

"Deliciously terrifying ... Dark, with his utter sincerity and colorful production values, is a fabulous myth," he told The Guardian newspaper.

Kevin Yeoman believes that part of the success of the series is that it manages to maintain an exciting pace, so it does not become heavy or overwhelming at any point in the plot.

"He knows how to integrate complexity and mystery into a satisfying narrative ... It remains intriguing without becoming exhausting, heavy or repetitive," he said.
