The sequel features a story that takes place 20 years after the events of the original film. The protagonist is a teenager named Lily, who has to move into the house of her mother's new romantic partner. This will mean living with her stepfather and 3 stepbrothers, while also facing the classic challenge of being the new student at the local high school. It will be enough if one of the most popular boys in school takes it as a joke.

However, everything will change when you make new friends, who are not conventional. They will make her the fourth member of their coven, who begins to take revenge "as a joke" on everyone who laughs at them. At the same time, a secret in Lily's past will surprise everyone, causing their paths to part. What they do not know is that an even greater danger lurks and the only way to survive will be to be united.

The protagonist carries him on his shoulders Cailee spaeny, who plays Lily Schechner. “What it means to me is identical because that little weirdo is still raging inside of me, and still suffering, because we are all constantly healing our inner wounded child (…) the most important element that I really wanted to include was a story in the that these 4 young women will not use their power against each other, but to encourage and support each other ”, he declared.

Criticism of Young Witches: New Brotherhood

The criticism is not positive. The consensus of the specialized press leans towards the idea that it is a sequel that does not reach the depth of the original film ... and that it does not even come close.

This is how Peter Debruge puts it (Variety), who assures that the current production will be easily forgotten due to its lack of spirit.

"It seems that this film is a step backwards (...) The original may be a disaster, but it has a legacy, and this film is not part of it," he wrote.

Similarly, Kristen Yoonso Kim (The New York Times) finds basic problems in the production of Lister Jones, fundamentally, in the design of the protagonists.

"This remake does not have well-developed characters (...) At its core, what it lacks is a fascinating quality," he said.

For Katie Walsh (Los Angeles Times), the film points to a good course in its opening minutes, but unexpectedly falls apart from many bad decisions.

“The movie stays afloat until, suddenly, it sinks. It is not known for sure if this is because they manipulated the film to be PG13 and not exceed 100 minutes in length, "he said.

Richard Lawson goes the same way in his comments for Vanity fair.

“Lester-Jones has a lot of ideas that come up briefly during the movie. The potential of these ideas was damaged, above all, by the super-patent concern of the film to do everything to perfection, especially because of its short duration ", he pointed out.
