Trinkets is a series that could be inserted in the genre of dramatic comedy. Behind this production are Emily Meyer and Amy Andelson. Kirsten Kiwi blacksmith It deserves a special mention because the series is an adaptation of its eponymous 2013 novel. This adventure began on June 14, 2019 through Netflix. Just a month later, the streaming service renewed it for a second season.

In general, it is a series of light consumptions with chapters that last between 20 and 30 minutes. Regardless, it is more than enough to consistently build characters. Although it is aimed at a teenage audience, it focuses more on problems and conflicts than the idyllic part of youth, so it breaks the forms in a subtle and entertaining way.

Trinkets presents the story of 3 teenagers who belong to different social strata, while having totally opposite personalities. In spite of everything, they all coincide in a meeting of Anonymous thieves, designed for compulsive shoplifters. This is how a friendship begins to form that makes them forget their differences to pass the time, but at the same time to support each other in the most difficult moments.

The main characters of Trinkets are Elodie Davis, played by Brianna hildebarnd; Moe Truax, character who is in charge of Kiana Madeiraand Tabitha Foster, a role she plays Quintessa swindell. They are the 3 teenagers who become best friends.

The cast is completed by Brandon Butler, as Brady Finch; Odyssey Georgiadis, as Noah Simos; Larry Sullivan, as Doug Davis; and Dana Green, as Jenna Block. In the same way, we often see Henry Zaga, like Luka Novak; Larisa Oleynik, as Shawn; Jessica Lyn Skinner, as Kayla Landis; October Moore, as Vicky; Austin Crute, as Marchioness; Nik Dodani, as Chase; Andrew Jacobs, as Ben Traux, and ChloË Levine, as Jillian.

Criticism of Trinkets

The series has caused good reactions among critics and fans. Regardless, at the same time there are some negative comments about the way kleptomania is approached. As an example, Kathryn VanArendonk regretted not having tried hard enough to portray the reality of this problem in her critique of Vulture.

"He is not able to focus on the psychology or reality of the kleptomaniac group, nor does he seem to know which stories matter (…) In isolated fragments, it can be very moving," he said.

For his part, Kevin Yeoman believes that the series has captivating characters, in reference to the 3 protagonists.

"These charming kleptomaniacs will steal your attention (...) It works because it understands the differences between the leads and gives them room to breathe," he said in his review for Screen Rant.

In summary, Kristi Tumquist noted in her analysis that Portland Oregonian which is a series that easily lends itself to a marathon.

"It has nice characters, well developed and excellent performances (...) its 10 short and agile chapters are easy to see in a marathon [although there are more in Season 2]," he noted.
