RTB (Real Time Bidding)

RTB (Real Time Bidding) concept

What is RTB (Real Time Bidding)?

The RTB, Real Time Bidding or, in Spanish, Real Time Bidding, is a real-time advertising space auction system. It is based on the data that is extracted from the navigation of the users, since it shows them only that commercial promotion that may interest them, and is characterized by being processed in an exaggeratedly short period of time. Communication between the parties involved is fast enough to get the ad handled in seconds.

Take advantage of the Big data to obtain adjust the content to the different sectors of the public according to their tastes and interests. The procedure that we talked about before is divided into the following parts: first, a user enters a website and it collects their data through the cookies; second, companies launch an offer to the web and data providers to buy a certain number of impressions for their ad (counting only to those people who are interested in what they propose); Third, after a series of bids, the highest bidder succeeds in placing their ad.

There are three steps that hardly require time thanks to the immediacy provided by the internet. Today's technology allows this to be done in a matter of minutes if desired, thus enabling businesses to quickly mobilize for a greater visibility push. The RTB is a clear example of how fast a procedure can be, even in an area as complicated as advertising, within the network.

What is Real Time Bidding (RTB) for?

Real Time Bidding helps companies pay the best price (always through the CPM concept) when publishing their ads on online portals. In addition, it is a system that helps to place the commercial promotion quickly and efficiently. Fast because it can appear in seconds, efficient because it is visible only by those users to whom it may really be of interest.

For online portals, it is an agile system with which to obtain more income by auctioning advertising space. They have the last word while watching the bids, allowing them to get the prices they deem appropriate.

Real Time Bidding Examples

Let's imagine that, at NeoAttack, we want to run an aggressive campaign to promote our services of content marketing. Instead of going to places related to digital marketing, we access a network of ads and look for auctions for different media related to this sector, or even for those of a general nature with a dedicated section.

Bidding until successful in different ones, would give way to the almost instantaneous publication of the desired banners or spaces; even though they would only be visible to those users who have made related searches and are more likely to be leads.
