The clustered column and line chart in Power BI is useful for visualizing multiple dimensions and measures. Let me show you how to create a line and clustered column chart in Power BI with an example.

How to create a clustered column and line chart in Power BI

To create a clustered column and line chart, first drag and drop the Field Sales section to the region of the canvas. Automatically create a Column Chart, as shown below.

Click the grouped column and line chart below theDisplaysection. Automatically converts a column chart to a line and clustered column chart. Currently, you don't see the change, because you have to add a few more fields.

Let me add the Region section to the shared axis and the Profit section to the line values to make it the clustered line and column chart.

Next, we'll add Customer Segment to the Column Series section to make it the Clustered Column Chart.

Create a Clustered Column and Line Chart in Power BI Approach 2

First, click on the Clustered Column and Line Chart below the Display section. You will create a grouped column and line chart with dummy data, as shown in the following screenshot.

To add data to the Power BI line and the clustered column chart, we have to add the required fields:

  • Shared axis: Specify the column that represents the vertical axis.
  • Column series: Specify the column that represents the bars in the grouped column.
  • Column values: Any numerical value, such as sales, profit, etc., that represents the vertical bars.
  • Line values: Any numeric value that the line represents.

Let me drag the Field Sales section to the Column Values field and Region to the Shared Axis section.

Let me sort the data by Region. To do this, click on the (3 dots) in the upper right corner and select the Sort by region option as we show below.

Then add the product category to the Column Series section

Drag and drop the Profit field into the Line Values section. That's it; we got our column chart of lines and clusters.
