What is the Development Environment?

A development environment is a platform designed to facilitate the work of programmer of software. It is also known as Integrated Development Environment IDE, which is translated integrated development environment.

A development environment, usually combines several functions that allow to automate a good part of the tasks and programming phasessuch as analysis, architecture design, coding, testing, validation, administration, and maintenance.

Generally, the development environment works with three levels of servers: development, assembly or incorporation and production.

In the first, as its name suggests, is where the initial tests are carried out; the second is used to verify the reliability of the program and stop failures; and the final verified version is installed on the production server.

There are a large number of development environments. The best are those with cross-platform features, with a practical interface that makes programming work easier. Professionals in the area especially appreciate those who promote communities, forums, and provide technical assistance.

What is the Development Environment for

It serves to provide the essential tools for the programming procedure. It also serves to build a program, a web page or a comprehensive application with the essential tools gathered in one place.

In other words, it could be likened to an editor where you can color or mark a part of the text, add images and graphics, find and replace words, and create files from templates. But that's not all, since a development environment also serves to:

  • Find and replace codes.
  • Syntax coloring to boost readability.
  • Run in debug mode.
  • Autocomplete codes.
  • Integrate version control systems.
  • Design projects from templates.
  • Insert pieces of code or snippets.
  • Refactor codes.

Development Environment Examples

There are a large number of specialized programs to facilitate the tasks of the programmer. Just to mention a few, depending on the programming language, they can be categorized into the following categories:

The aforementioned examples are mainly aimed at professionals in the programming area, but there are also platforms or development environments designed for those who seek to create a project by themselves, still without mastering programming languages.

These types of development environments are called Wysiwyg (What You See Is What You Get). Some examples are:

  • Dreamweaver
  • BlueGriffon
  • Kompozer

And to facilitate access to those who definitely do not want to complicate with programming language, CMS Content Management System such as WordPress were created.

If all of these terms cause you confusion, avoid worrying. At NeoAttack we have the best experts in development environments. Tell us what you need, we do it for you. Contact us here.
