When you first set up a new Chromecast, you have the option to give it a name. This identifies Chromecast to the network and the streaming equipment, so it knows which unit it's casting to. But if your Chromecast started with "Chromecast Living Room" and you've moved it to another room, it makes sense to change its name. It is a quick and easy procedure; learn how to do it here.

Si no tiene la aplicación Google home App en su teléfono o no desea utilizar esta ruta, puede cambiar el nombre de Chromecast utilizando el browser Google Chrome en su computadora portátil o de escritorio.

  1. On your computer, open the Chrome browser > Click on the 3-dot icon > and select the Cast option from the drop-down menu.
  2. In the window that appears, click on the current name of your Chromecast.
  3. Next, right-click on the icon that now appears in the upper right corner of your screen and click Manage Cast Devices from the dropdown menu.
  4. On the next screen, click on the speed icon.
  5. On the Chromecast Settings screen, enter a new name for your Chromecast and click the Apply button to store this change.

To send photos, videos, music, or anything else to your Chromecast, in Chromecast-enabled apps, you have to click the Cast button, which is most of them these days (Apple's default iTunes video player is one of the latest failures).

As an example, if you start streaming to Netflix, you will see a Chromecast icon in the top right corner of your phone or tablet. Tap on it, select your Chromecast, and your video will appear on the big screen. Your phone becomes a remote that you use to control playback, change volume, turn on subtitles, and more.

Now ask one of your friends to open a Chromecast-enabled app and tap the Chromecast button. Your device should recognize your Chromecast within a few seconds. Tap the Connect button, then a) wait until your friend's phone automatically connects to the Chromecast (using an ultrasonic audio handshake, a procedure that has never worked on my Motorola G) or with a PIN (which is displayed in the lower left corner of the screen).
