✅ Windows 10 Settings app doesn't open or launch the Store app instead

If you find that the Windows 10 Preferences app won't start or open, or if the Store app starts instead, this Microsoft troubleshooter will fix the problem.

Windows 10 Settings app won't open

Microsoft is aware of this issue. Some Windows 10 users have reported that after installing or upgrading to Windows 10, when they click on the Settings app to open it when it is not open. Others announced that it opens the Store app instead.

Microsoft has classified this issue as Emerging Issue 67758 and has spread this troubleshooting out until a solution is found to help you safely fix the issue.

After downloading the file, click on the file to run it. When it opens, click Next.

It will take you to a screen that says: Correct or undo problem 67758. Click Next again.

The tool will analyze your system and determine if this applies to your system and if problems are detected, it will report them and propose to fix them.

If none is found, it will indicate number not available.

Solution(*10*): Create a new local administrator account as follows. Add it from Control Panel or Run/Search lusrmgr.msc(*10*) and open the Microsoft common console document. Right-click on 'Users' and select 'Add New User' to make the necessary settings. Now log out of your account using Ctrl + Alt + Del, then log in to your newly created account. If you can now open Settings, move your personal data and files to the new account and make the new account an administrator account:

UPDATE(*10*): Microsoft has released a cumulative update for Windows 10 KB3081424 that prevents this issue,
