Cross-Sell Concept
What is Cross-Sell?
Cross-sell, (a concept closely linked to Up-sell) which is also known as cross-selling, is a marketing concept that is used to talk about the tactics used when marketing complementary products to everything that your consumer buys. It is a proposal that always has in mind to increase the income of the firm in question by providing something in parallel to its main line of business.
It is used with the intention of multiply sales based on offering something that may also be of interest to consumers when they purchase a specific product. For this, key movements must be made especially in the area where the purchase is closed, as long as it is not something that generates distractions or hinders the purchase procedure for the user, since it could generate an effect totally opposite to the desired one.
At the same time it is used in this area, it can be extended to other areas that allow closer contact with consumers. Some stores, for example, usually resort to sending emails to buyers some time after making their purchases, always to obtain those additional sales based on the new needs that may have arisen after their last purchase.
It is a mechanism in which timing plays a crucial role, but it has enormous potential when it comes to increasing sales and income in any business. Today, it is one of the most frequent techniques in e-commerce, especially thanks to the data they can handle about customers.
What is Cross-Sell for?
Cross-sell serves as a mechanism to increase the profits of a company by marketing accessories to its buyers. Take advantage of those new needs or concerns that may appear after a purchase to obtain another or others and, thus, get more money and a greater base of recurring income.
It is one of the key strategies to increase the sales index and, at the same time, gain a good image with the consumer due to the show of concern to provide the most complete solutions. A double benefit that only has a positive impact on the brands that use it; but that, especially, they know how to use it.
