The Blogroll is one of the most used resources on web portals to give visibility to others. It consists of a series of links to other blogs that, normally, is placed in a lateral column contained in an online portal. Sometimes, in addition, it is presented with a horizontal row in which they appear by their name or with an image of their logo or their own website.

It is a fairly traditional tactic in the online territory, especially in the blogosphere, which is often used to take the reader to portals where the author who links usually enters regularly. In addition, given the friendly atmosphere that usually occurs in this environment, it is something that is usually done to bring traffic from one website to another and increase visits, as well as to create new assiduous readers.

It is usually used as a reciprocal mechanism to expand audiences. The blogs to be linked in the blogroll can fit by theme, by offering similar content or even to complement what is discussed in a specific portal with other totally different topics. The truth is that the criteria at the time of selecting is something that is always in the hands of the author of the web in question, but it is usually governed by affinity with those responsible for the linked sites or by the viable interest of the reader.

It is such an old and established proposal that it has existed even before it was given a name. Already in 1997 it was feasible to see blogs with blogrolls on their sides inviting readers to visit other online portals.

What is a Blogroll for?

The Blogroll serves to gain an audience and to show readers an interest in offering them the best information. For the owner of a web page, it is a mechanism with which he leads part of his audience to another web; but it performs a boomerang effect by also obtaining an audience from the linked web if it has been previously agreed to also appear on your blogroll.
