Shares concept

What are Shares?

Shares are a mechanism that has been active within Facebook since approximately 2011, it consists of a simple interaction with which a content made public is disseminated by another user for the purpose of being seen by the friends of the one who shares it. Its purpose is none other than to allow a publication to have a greater reach, even though it also serves to enrich what is shown to friends who are available on the social network.

Since its entry into force, it has become the main method to increase the variety of publications that can be seen on the social network and offer others what can arouse the interest of a user. Translated into Spanish as sharing, it is something that is constantly used in this social platform and that is already one of the main mechanisms used by all users who use it daily.

This term, while being used to talk about the action, serves to talk about the metric. It can measure the popularity and reach of a post on Facebook based on counting the amount of Shares that it has obtained within the social network. From this dynamic, it also becomes a very useful and direct indicator of popularity and very much to pay attention to by authors who publish content within this platform for promotional or informational purposes.

What are Shares for

Shares serve two things. On the one hand, they help to spread more easily any type of publication that is made on the social network, be it image, sound, video, text or a combination of everything. Apart from this, they also serve to assess the extent to which content has been published and how popular it has been.

It is an element that serves as a metric to measure the degree of interaction of the public with something and, thus, also establish whether it has been liked by other users. It has many more uses than meets the eye, thanks also to the double meaning it has without leaving Facebook.
