Vanity metric

What is the vanity metric?

Metrics that are not relevant for the development of the digital product or service, nor do they provide valuable information for making business decisions. The number of visits to a website, the number of followers on Twitter, the number of fans on Facebook can be interpreted as vain indicators. They are simple to measure or monitor, but their usefulness is limited and they can give a false idea of growth. They are different from actionable metrics.
