Copyright concept

What is Copyright?

The Copyright is a license that protects the intellectual property of an author. In Spanish-speaking countries it is known as "Copyright" and includes a compilation of norms and laws that protect the accreditation of authorship and exploitation rights of the work, be it a book, a painting, an investigative post, a didactic project , an audiovisual or music.

It has centuries of existence. Some suggest that the concept was formalized in the 18th century in England, when publishers defended the perpetuity of controlling the copying of books, which meant that no one else could print copies of copyrighted works.

Even though there are records that the first copyright claim arose at the end of the 15th century by Antonio de Nebrija, creator of the English Grammar, and promoter of the printing press at the University of Salamanca.

At this time, Copyright is recognized as fundamental rights according to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. With this, the author can authorize under what means his work can be distributed, as well as receive an economic amount for each copy sold (in the case of a book) and can also choose whether to withdraw his work from the market.

What is Copyright for

Copyright serves to protect the intellectual property of the author in the judicial sphere, providing the creator with exclusive rights to manage the use of his work. It also protects the work from possible plagiarism or any other action that may threaten the moral integrity of the author.

Although all creation in itself is copyrighted, judicial registration is also recommended so that, in cases of plagiarism, the original author has the necessary papers to prove the authorship of the work. Thus, the creation date or the date on which the author claimed the work as his own can also be known.

Copyright examples

Just open any book at the beginning or end of the page to read the copyright descriptions included inside. In general, they are lines that say "The total or partial distribution of this work is prohibited without the permission of the author", followed by "It is protected under legislation No. ...".

At this time, many websites and blogs are also copyrighted. An example of this is NeoAttack, where at the end of our pages you will find a short phrase that says "All rights reserved", followed by the Copyright symbol, year of creation and company name. From this dynamic, all the strategies, texts and articles belong to the members of the company.
