Voice Search is a special Google search feature that allows you to initiate Google search queries using verbal language instead of typing.
How voice search developed
Google Voice Search was published in 2011. Initially, it was only available for Google.com and only in English. In October 2012, an application for Apple mobile devices was launched. Google struggled to compete with Apple's Siri with voice search for smartphones and tablets.
In November 2013, Google introduced the option to use voice search on desktops with "Google Voice Search Hotword". In order to use it, you need to install an extension for Google Chrome. Otherwise, voice search does not work in other browsers. Google entered Spanish in its voice search more or less at the same time. The Google video titled «Search Out Loud with Voice Search»Shows examples of how to use Google voice search.
Google's voice search app has already been downloaded more than 100 million times on the Google Play platform.[1]
With the help of Cognitive Computing, the computer system can learn point to point independently and thus offer the user a better user experience.
Availability
Google voice search is mainly enabled for desktop PCs and Android mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Since the fall of 2012, there is also an iOS version that competes with Apple's voice accreditation.
How to use voice search
The amplitude must be installed in the desktop PC before use. The Google Search app must be installed and opened on a mobile or tablet. The microphone must also be activated. The user must now say the words "ok Google" into the microphone that will activate voice search. Everything that is said from this moment on it will be used by Google as a search term.
Advantages of Google voice search
Voice search makes searching the Google search engine even more convenient. Accessibility is a definite issue in this regard. People who have difficulty typing search terms correctly can better use the search engine with voice search.
This affects, for example, people who do not know how to spell or have a physical disability, the illiterate, elderly users and those who are not used to using a PC keyboard. Using voice search can be fundamentally beneficial if you don't know how to spell a search word correctly or if it consists of a long search query. Fundamentally with mobile devices, it is advantageous to be able to use search without typing, as this can be cumbersome with long search terms.
Relevance for SEO
Voice search is done differently than normal search in Google search. While people often want to reduce their typing effort by using the fewest possible number of search terms, complete questions or entire phrases can be expressed with voice search in seconds. In this way, it can be assumed that the proportion of LongTail search queries will increase affecting the area of search engine optimization. This usually happens at the expense of generic and so far typical money keywords.
At the same time, search engine optimizers are faced with two other trends, local and personal search results. User-defined search results, where SERPs are re-evaluated according to local importance to the user, have been around for some time. Google takes into account specific criteria that are determined through speech analysis for personal search results.
For example, if a user searches for the keyword "jeans", speech analysis determines whether the user is a female or male user depending on the tone. Therefore, the search engine does not return search results for the search word "jeans", but rather for "women's jeans" or "men's jeans". In the context of voice search, semantic search also plays an important role, making it easier for Google to understand what the user wants to find.
