Onedrive is a Windows hack that syncs your folder to the cloud and across all your devices, like Dropbox. Many Windows users have encountered error 0x8007016A while trying to delete or move folders or files in OneDrive folder. The error code is accompanied by the message “The cloud file provider is not working”. Most of the concerned users have reported that this error message occurs with a current version of OneDrive.

Reinstall OneDrive drivers and applications

Microsoft is silent on this issue. Either they know nothing about it or they refuse to admit it.

To correct the situation, basically download OneDrive driver/ ”Aplicación” desde su ordenador y vuelva a instalarla – “OneDriveSetup.exe”. Debes de buscar en Microsoft.com y eso no lo hace fácil. Tenemos que decir que este es el mejor curso; puede encontrarlo en la carpeta de «últimas versiones», pero como parece que hay un obstáculo con Windows Update (arriba), no pensamos que be la última versión.

This fixes the sync issues. But apparently the "fix" is only good until Microsoft, in its infinite wisdom, decides to fix things.

Disable File-On Demand

Most of the affected users reported that they successfully resolved the issue by disabling Files On Demand in the OneDrive preferences menu and subsequently deleting the OneDrive semi-synchronized file. This operation is effective in cases where a file is not fully synced: it has a thumbnail image, but the file size is 0 KB.

Resuming the sync

Además puede hallar este problema debido a que la sincronización de OneDrive está temporalmente deshabilitada en el menú Configuración. Esto puede suceder a través de la intervención manual del Username o luego de que un plan de energía u otra aplicación de terceros haya desactivado el procedimiento de sincronización para ahorrar energía.

Several involved users have managed to fix the issue by accessing OneDrive settings and continuing the sync procedure. Once the service was restarted, most of the affected users reported that the issue was resolved.

Check that you are not syncing too many files.

If OneDrive sync is stuck for an extended period of time, or if the Processing 0 KB xMB status indicates that you have a lot of files on your OneDrive or that a lot of new files need to be uploaded. If you have more than 100,000 files, synchronization can take a long time.

To see how many files you have on your OneDrive:

  1. Open File Explorer.
  2. Right-click on the OneDrive folder and select Properties.
  3. If the number is more than 100,000, think about which OneDrive folders to sync with your computer.
