Cada vez que creamos un nuevo Username en Windows, incluido el nuestro, con el que vamos a usar el PC de forma frecuente, Windows crea una serie de carpetas donde all files related to that user will be stored, both the files they create and other data.

The AppData folder also includes, all app settings that we install in our user. Keep in mind that not all users on the same computer can use all the applications and if the shared applications do not have the same configuration.

When it comes to making a backup copy of our files, using the native function that Windows offers us, it already takes care of save all configuration data related to the application that we have installed, so that, when restoring the copy, we find ourselves with the same configuration again.

What happens if I delete the AppData folder?

This folder, like System32, cannot be removed directly from Windows copy where it is included. Although it is true that if we can remove it using Linux, it is not recommended to remove it, if we do not want our copy of Windows to stop working and we are forced to reinstall Windows.

Protecting that access to this folder is not easy, natively Is hidden, so unless we configure the explorer to show hidden files and folders, it will not appear.

Where is the AppData folder?

As I mentioned previously, this folder is created by every new Windows user we create. When created in association, this folder is located within the folder of that user's name, inside the Users folder.
