If you are using a free theme or plugin through WordPress.org, you are probably familiar with automatic updates through your control panel.<\/p>\n<p>Regularly, when you see a notice in your admin&#039;s navigation bar that you have an update, you can go to <em>Control Panel&gt; Updates<\/em> and all you have to do is confirm the update of a WordPress.org theme or plugin, or your main WordPress installation. Easy right? Well unfortunately, premium themes outside of WordPress.org cannot be updated in the same way directly. Each premium theme should have its own API to provide automatic updates for its developer-served product and while many of the themes on ThemeForest have built-in systems, there are some that don&#039;t and that&#039;s where the \u201cEnvato Market Plugin\u201d comes in. instead.<\/p>\n<p>the <strong>Envato Market Plugin<\/strong> enables you to connect to your ThemeForest account to provide installation and updates for all premium themes and plugins you have purchased from Themeforest and Codecanyon) and is very easy to set up and use.<\/p>\n<p>In this guide, we will walk you through all the steps to download the free add-on, as well as installation and setup. Before you begin, it is important to note that you must use an administrator account on your WordPress site to install the plugin and enable automatic updates. And remember: the Envato Market plugin only provides automatic updates for Themeforest WordPress themes and Codecanyon WordPress plugins (it will not provide update notices for themes you have purchased or downloaded from other markets). Okay, now let&#039;s get started!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Instalacion-del-complemento-de-mercado-de-Envato\"><\/span>Installing the Envato Marketplace Plugin<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img alt='download-envato-market-plugin-6378219' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/download-envato-market-plugin-6378219.png' width=\"1500\" height=\"700\"><\/p>\n<p>The first step is to download the Envato Market plugin. This is available on Envato (as well as via Github) and is completely free. All you need to do is click the button below to go to the Envato Market plugin page and click the <em>to download <\/em>button.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"theme-button blue\" href=\"https:\/\/envato.com\/market-plugin\/\">Download the Envato Market Plugin<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This will download the zip file with the plugin. It is not necessary to unzip it, we will install it as is. You should see a screen similar to the one above. The first step is to create an Envato API token. To do this, click on the <em>generate a personal token<\/em> link (highlighted in red above).<\/p>\n<p><img alt='create-new-envato-token-6983144' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/create-new-envato-token-6983144.jpg' width=\"1230\" height=\"1650\"><\/p>\n<p>If you are already logged into your Envato account, you will be taken to the screen above (otherwise, you will be prompted to log in before being redirected to this page). On this screen you can see what the Envato Market plugin requests permission to enter through your Envato account (Envato sites, the ability to download your items, a list of your purchases, and verification of your purchases).<\/p>\n<p>To continue, give your token a name, check the box that you have read and accept the terms and then click the green button to create your token.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='copy-token-1620168' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-38709 size-full\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/copy-token-1620168.jpg' width=\"1400\" height=\"800\"><\/p>\n<p>Once your token is created, you will see a green success screen. <strong>Copy your token code<\/strong> (this is very important since Envato does not store a copy of the token for you), check to confirm that you have copied it and click the white button that <em>Understood<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='enter-envato-api-token-5774154' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/enter-envato-api-token-5774154.jpg' width=\"1240\" height=\"860\"><\/p>\n<p>Now go back to your WordPress installation and paste your Envato API token and then click save.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='possible-error-8230443' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-38712 size-full\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/possible-error-8230443.png' width=\"1000\" height=\"200\"><\/p>\n<p>You may see the error above when you first enter your token. Don&#039;t worry, go back to the previous page and try again. The added tabs show all your theme and plugin purchases, as well as their version numbers and quick links to the theme and author pages.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Una-nota-para-disenadores-web-y-agencias-de-diseno\"><\/span>A note for web designers and design agencies<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If you are a freelance web design professional or design agency buying themes for clients, you can use the Envato Market plugin to keep your client sites up to date. You should not give your customers access to all their purchases, so you should use the <em>Single Item Tokens<\/em> section.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='generate-single-envato-tokens-7253709' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/generate-single-envato-tokens-7253709.jpg' width=\"1240\" height=\"870\"><\/p>\n<p>You will first need to install the Envato Market plugin on your customer&#039;s site and then create a token by clicking on the <em>generate a personal token<\/em> link. Make a copy of your token as you would if you were creating your own token.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='envato-item-id-1-1357505' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/envato-item-id-1-1357505.jpg' width=\"1230\" height=\"360\"><\/p>\n<p>Then at the same time you will need to locate the <em>Product identification<\/em> for your client&#039;s theme and \/ or plugins. To find the id, just go to the Themeforest or Codecanyon item page and copy the numeric id at the end of the url.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='activate-envato-item-5580526' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/activate-envato-item-5580526.jpg' width=\"1240\" height=\"860\"><\/p>\n<p>Now navigate back to the Envato Market page within your client&#039;s site instead of pasting your token into the available global field, click on the <em>Add item<\/em> button. This will open a pop-up window to enter your Envato Token and item ID.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='confirm-envato-item-4271058' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/confirm-envato-item-4271058.jpg' width=\"1240\" height=\"860\"><\/p>\n<p>Once you save the item, you can repeat the process to add all your other purchases for this specific customer.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='synced-envato-items-7593266' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/synced-envato-items-7593266.jpg' width=\"1240\" height=\"640\"><\/p>\n<p>Now, the WordPress installation you have been working on will only show the items (and associated updates) that you have added. From here you can process your update in the usual way by selecting and updating your article.<\/p>\n<div class=\"gray-box\">\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> You CANNOT update plugins included with a theme using the Envato Market plugin. You can only update add-ons for which you have purchased your own individual license. When a developer bundles plugins with a theme, they must provide plugin updates within the theme or provide update details in their theme documentation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>To update your item through the Envato Market plugin, simply click on the <em>Update available<\/em> link in the orange prompt to begin installing the update.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='updating-theme-with-envato-marktet-6158600' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/updating-theme-with-envato-marktet-6158600.jpg' width=\"1230\" height=\"635\"><\/p>\n<p>If your item shows the <em>Updating ... <\/em>message for more than a few minutes, refresh the page and try again.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='updated-theme-with-envato-marktet-6902240' loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/updated-theme-with-envato-marktet-6902240.jpg' width=\"1230\" height=\"635\"><\/p>\n<p>When the update is complete, you will see a quick green notice that your item has been <em>Updated!<\/em> And that is. As updates become available, you can view them directly from your dashboard (much more convenient than downloading updates yourself as you receive email notifications from Envato).<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Error-al-actualizar-la-descarga-fallo-o-esta-prohibida\"><\/span>Update failed: download failed (or is prohibited)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>There is a possibility that when updating you will see an error message that the update download has failed. In testing, we found that refreshing your browser window and clicking to refresh again worked solved the problem. So when in doubt update and you should be fine.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Instalacion-de-nuevas-compras-con-el-complemento-de-mercado-de-Envato\"><\/span>Install New Purchases with Envato Marketplace Plugin<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Installing new theme or plugin purchases at the same time is easier when you use the Envato Market plugin.
