Warning<\/strong>- This is a relatively advanced topic that may only be of interest to a few performance fans.<\/p>\n

Have you ever referenced a newly created group of assets (in other words, images or css files) contained in a custom directory within a WordPress template, page, or post and assumed these assets will be cached in a way automatic by MaxCDN? Or maybe you've already noticed that they are not cached * and wondering why not. Well guess what? Without informing MaxCDN about this new directory you have created, you will not know it is there and consequently you will not be able to store anything in it! This is what you should do (assuming you are using W3 Total Cache) ...<\/p>\n

Step 1.<\/h3>\n

From the management panel, go to 'Performance' -> 'CDN', scroll down and make sure the 'Custom host files' checkbox is checked.<\/p>\n

Step 2.<\/h3>\n

Keep scrolling down until you reach the 'Custom File List' field. This is where you will need to add your custom directory. As an example, if your custom directory is located within the same directory as your WordPress installation (which will generally be the site's root directory), simply add the directory name followed by an asterisk (the asterisk here means' all in this folder '), as in the example screenshot below.<\/p>\n

\u2026 And voila, all assets contained within the folder should now be cached by MaxCDN.<\/p>\n

* You can check whether or not assets are being cached by loading the referenced page or post in a browser and checking the source code - if they are being cached, you should see the CDN URL inside of the URL that refers to the asset.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
