So when another of its plugins hit my desktop, I had to check it out. This time, I got my hands on CM Downloads Manager Pro and two things immediately impressed me: it is intuitive and it is compatible with the other CM plugins I have tried.<\/p>\n<p>CM Downloads Manager is a free and premium plugin for WordPress that enables you to configure what users can upload and download to and from your site. It supports a range of files, from documents to music files, and enables password protection, incorporation of retail payment, file previews, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#039;s take a look at some of the advantages of this plugin.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Usos-potenciales\"><\/span>Potential uses<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The CM Downloads Manager plug-in has a range of potential uses, many of which are described on the CMinds site. Regardless, I thought it was important to mention them here as it provides context for the setup process.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#039;s say you want to sell your own add-ons. You can use this plugin to password protect plugin file downloads and integrate it with an e-commerce solution. Or, if you want to offer downloads of music files that you have created, you can easily do so once people sign up as users. You could even offer free downloadable white papers this way. If you plan to offer a feature-rich download experience, you will need the pro version.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Caracteristicas-de-la-version-Pro\"><\/span>Pro version features<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img alt='cm-downloads-plugin-features-4324765' class=\"fullimg alignnone wp-image-31090 size-full\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/cm-downloads-plugin-features-4324765.png' width=\"670\" height=\"114\"><\/p>\n<p>CM Downloads Manager Pro offers many features, so please be patient while I try to go through them all. For starters, you can add second-level categories, which is especially useful if you offer a lot of downloads. There is support for multiple sites and you can filter the search results by more variables like date, download type, and username. At the same time you can use custom CSS, get rid of the CMinds gratitude message in the footer on download pages, and modify the permalinks as you see fit. You can even set a disclaimer for new users on their downloads.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond these general features, at the same time you get more access control and moderation options in the Pro version. Set user group permissions and log all downloads from registered and unregistered users. You have the option of viewing this record by date, download name, or user and exporting it via the CSV file format. At the same time you can set viewing restrictions on each download. Some may be available to everyone, while others can only be viewed by those who are online. At the same time there is a lot of support for shortcodes, such as downloads, a downloaded items list widget, updates, top contributors and associated downloads.<\/p>\n<p>One thing I really liked about this plugin is the ability to fully customize the download pages. You can set an external URL or even a shortcode for a download instead of uploading a file, which is really useful when integrated with a shopping cart plugin. At the same time you can choose to display more tabs on each page to give the downloads more complete descriptions. Add view counts, a slideshow, and a social sharing widget at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>On the support forum front, the Pro version adds the ability to remove the support forum entirely or display additional tabs. At the same time, public user profiles and the addition of Gravatar and BuddyPress are included. You can see a demo of all of this in action on the CMinds site.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Configurarlo\"><\/span>Configure<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Approach the setup process for this plugin the same way you would any other. Just add the plugin by uploading it via a .zip file in the admin panel. After accessing your activation key, you should see this menu on the left side of the management panel:<\/p>\n<p>Then go to the &quot;Settings&quot; link and set your permalinks on the General tab. Then select which file extensions you would like to allow uploaded and define access settings for users. Basically decide which users you would allow to upload files. Often only editors or only administrators receive this permission. It is better to take care of this in advance so that you do not play with it later. Save your changes and then click &quot;Add New&quot; to add your first download. You will be directed to the Add New Download form:<\/p>\n<p><img alt='cm-downloads-upload-9345704' class=\"fullimg alignnone wp-image-31096 size-full\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/cm-downloads-upload-9345704.png' width=\"670\" height=\"510\"><\/p>\n<p>The form at the same time includes fields to add a detailed description of the download and installation instructions. In truth, there is a lot to cover here, but I hope this has given you at least a broad overview of how the plugin works, why it is useful, and why I recommend it.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>CM Downloads Manager Pro might not be for everyone. After all, not everyone has a need to offer downloads on their websites. But for those who do, this is a relatively inexpensive, easy to set up, and easy to use solution. Permission settings are simple and can be modified at any time. You can also set how downloads are presented and have the option to include social sharing, Gravatars, previews, and more.
