After all, you are faced with a million different possibilities and they all look amazing. It&#039;s tempting to throw everything and the kitchen sink in one place <i>just because you can<\/i>. And while there&#039;s nothing wrong with that on your own locally hosted site to run tests, it&#039;s probably not a good approach for customer sites.<\/p>\n<p>If I&#039;ve learned anything about web usability, it&#039;s that less is definitely more. And if you want to keep visitors on your site, you need to think about the end-user experience from the beginning. That means coming back when you come up with the basic concept and design of the site. User experience is something that directly affects the way visitors interact with your site and largely determines whether or not they will stay long enough to convert. Here are some ways you can ensure that your focus remains on the user experience during the design and development stages.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Piense-en-las-preferencias-de-su-sitio\"><\/span>Think about your site preferences<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While not every customer you get will think exactly like you, it can be helpful to take advantage of personal preferences when thinking about site design. After all, how you feel when you look at a site plays a big role in how you receive its content. The same goes for your ideal site visitors. Some universal preferences include:<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Texto-escaneable\"><\/span>Scannable text<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Even if you have a lot to say, it&#039;s a bad idea to overload your visitors with a ton of text. At least not dense blocks. The text must be scannable, which is exactly what it sounds like: short paragraphs, lots of captions and lists, and the use of images on each page. This breaks down blocks of text that might otherwise make your visitors look glassy.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Espacio-en-blanco\"><\/span>Blank space<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I said it once and I&#039;ll say it again: less is more. Building a user-friendly site means thinking about your overall design and that includes where you decide. <i>do not<\/i> to place items. A good amount of white space around text and images gives your visitors a breather. Skip the curly signs and the dash. Stick to simple fonts that are universally known across all types of browsers. And if you want to make sure your visitors have the best possible experience, integrate Google Fonts on your site. This is easily accomplished through the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"WP Google Fonts Free WordPress Plugin\" href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/wp-google-fonts\/\">WP Google Fonts<\/a> plug.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enlaces-identificables-y-funcionales\"><\/span>Identifiable (and functional) links<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Simple enough - make sure the links in the body of your posts and elsewhere are easy to spot. They must be underlined at least or in a different color than the body of the text. Also, make sure all the links work. One of the most frustrating things a visitor to your site can experience is a broken link, so don&#039;t let it happen! the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Broken Link Checker Free WordPress Plugin\" href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/broken-link-checker\/\">Broken link checker<\/a> The plugin can help prevent this and ensure that when a user clicks, they will reach their intended destination.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Investiga-la-industria\"><\/span>Research the industry<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Another aspect of ease of use that you should pay attention to is the importance of the industry. This has as much to do with design as the attributes above, but weighs much more on expectations than anything else. Visitor expectations vary from industry to industry and you should be aware of these things early on.<\/p>\n<p>As an example, let&#039;s say you are building a site for a real estate agent. A potential real estate site visitor would expect the site theme to look a certain way and to include certain features like MLS connectivity, virtual tours, etc. While you don&#039;t always have to stay &quot;in the box&quot; in terms of design aesthetics, it is imperative that you include the appropriate features related to a specific industry on your site. Otherwise, you can confuse visitors at best and alienate them at worst.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Piense-en-la-navegacion\"><\/span>Think about navigation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>An easy to use WordPress site will have easy to locate and use navigation. As such, you shouldn&#039;t try to get too creative with the way you handle menus. Drop-down menus that roll out into even more drop-down menus won&#039;t make you friends. Menus that are hidden somewhere will make your visitors work unnecessarily to get into your content. This is not about something you want to do. Instead, put the navigation menus in a prominent place, generally at the top of the site or on the left side.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, you must ensure that your site has an easily accessible search bar. Again, don&#039;t make it harder for your visitors to find the content they are looking for.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='google-sitemap-6838589' class=\"fullimg\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/google-sitemap-6838589.png' width=\"670\" height=\"218\"><\/p>\n<p>Finally, make sure your website has a sitemap. While this won&#039;t necessarily affect the user experience, it will make your site easier for search engines to read, helping you rank higher and in turn driving more traffic. the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Google Sitemap Free WordPress Plugin\" href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/google-sitemap-plugin\/\">Google site map<\/a> The plugin is a good option because it makes it easy to create a sitemap for Google Webmaster Tools.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Considere-los-dispositivos-utilizados\"><\/span>Consider the devices used<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A key component of ease of use is about recognizing that people will access your site from different devices. By choosing a responsive theme, you will tackle this problem in one fell swoop. This way, you can be sure that the site will look the way you want it to on smartphones, tablets, and desktops. The navigation items will always be at the top for easy access and the buttons will be sized appropriately for the device they are being viewed on. The images will be adjusted to fit the screen in question. Responsiveness is the way to go to make your site as user-friendly as possible.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Optimizar-para-velocidad\"><\/span>Optimize for speed<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img alt='tinypng1-1637504' class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-30583\" src='https:\/\/rmarketingdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/tinypng1-1637504.png' width=\"321\" height=\"220\">How quickly your site pages load at the same time influences overall usability. As an example, if a site loads slowly, but a visitor already knows exactly what they need to click on to get where they need to go, that visitor will end up feeling very frustrated in the meantime. So, use some common sense. Avoid images that are huge and \/ or compress them with a tool like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"TinyPNG\" href=\"https:\/\/tinypng.com\/\">TinyPNG<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"WP Smush.it Free WordPress Plugin\" href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/wp-smushit\/\">Smush<\/a>. These tools will significantly reduce the size of your image files.<\/p>\n<p>To decrease site-wide loading times, you can use a caching plugin like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"W3 Total Cache Free WordPress Plugin\" href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/w3-total-cache\/\">W3 total cache<\/a> to speed things up at the same time.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Many of the tips outlined above are standard best practices for the web that you should use regardless of what platform you create a site on. Regardless, WordPress CMS simplifies creating a more user-friendly site thanks to some of its inherent qualities and the ability to expand its functionality through plugins.
