Here&#039;s how to proceed\u2026<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Download the VB audio cable from the web portal.<\/li>\n<li>Unzip the downloaded file.<\/li>\n<li>Run VBCable_Setup.exe or VBCable_Setup_64.exe.<\/li>\n<li>Go through the wizard<\/li>\n<li>Optional: Restart as soon as you have finished.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once installed, go to Control Panel &gt; Sound and check if your new audio input and output has been created.<\/p>\n<p>To make recording easier, set the input and output as default devices.<\/p>\n<p>The VB audio cable is also supplied with a control panel. No installation required\u2026 Basically open VBCable_ControlPanel.exe from the downloaded ZIP folder. Here you can choose sample rates up to 96 kHz. The program may not be activated at all. Thus, restoring these settings should be the first solution you should try. To ensure that there are no obstacles to running the program, you should also set it as the default recording device. So, here are the steps to follow to fix a stereo mix that isn&#039;t working:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the bottom right corner of the toolbar.<\/li>\n<li>Right click on the sound icon.<\/li>\n<li>A menu appears. Select Recording Devices. The Sound window opens.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the Registry tab, then right-click an empty area of the window.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure the Show disabled devices and Show disabled devices alternatives are selected.<\/li>\n<li>You should be able to see the stereo mix of the available devices. Right click and select Activate.<\/li>\n<li>The next step is to set Stereo Mix as the default recording device. Right-click the device above and select Set as default device.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click Stereo Mix again and select Set as default communication device. It may be considered useless or disabled by a third-party application. This is a big mistake by Microsoft because hiding the device among the recording devices was definitely useless. Be sure to check if this is the cause of your problem!<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click the Volume icon at the bottom right of the screen and select Sounds. Alternatively, open Control Panel on your computer and set the Show by option to Large Icons. Later, find and click on the Sounds option to open the same window.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate to the Recording tab of the Sound window that just opened.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click anywhere in the center of the window and check the boxes next to Show disabled devices and Show disconnected devices. A stereo mix should appear. Right-click and select Enable in the<\/li>\n<li>pop-up menu that appears.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#039;t forget to try it to see if it works!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CONCLUSION\"><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CONCLUSION\"><\/span>CONCLUSION<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In some cases, your audio chipset drivers will not help you. It&#039;s probably because they are outdated. In other cases, however, this is because the latest Windows drivers for your chipset do not support this functionality. This was the case with my Asus Eee computer (a 1000U), but I was able to fix the problem by downloading and installing the old Windows XP\/Vista drivers for my audio chipset.
