User

The terms Username or internet user they refer to a person using a PC and the Internet. However, the term "user" can have several meanings. In general, it can describe a person who uses the Internet, that is, who surfs the net, or who uses a user account on a web portal. The term can also refer to a person who is a member of a social network or a specific Internet community. At the same time, web apps and software have subtle differences:

For example, a person with above average knowledge of a particular application is called an expert user because of their extensive experience with it. In contrast to this is the concept of the most basic user imaginable. Such a person has little or no knowledge of the technology he is using. In software and web app development, SUE (stupid user error) is often taken into account to increase usability, especially for users with little knowledge.

General information

There are several terms that relate to the term "user" in terms of what they are doing with a web application or how they use it. Usability, ease of use, and User Experience are terms that describe user behavior in some way. Usability or ease of use is frequently used to specify the requirements of a web portal or application, while the user experience is more related to the subjective perception of a user. High usability is, therefore, an ideal that must be met so that users are satisfied with the app or web portal, and also so that the web portal or application can achieve its predetermined objectives. User Centered Design means that an application has been designed for the user from the ground up. Users are the center of attention. Each concept for various web apps has to be geared towards them.[1]

Various KPIs are used to review user behavior regarding websites, which combined represent an overview of user behavior. However, these KPIs are only a quantitative consideration. If a web application is going to be user-centric, the Architecture must be oriented to the real needs of users. Concept designers, programmers, and SEOs need some empathy and common sense.

The important KPIs are:

  • Page impressions from individual visitors (most recently named Users by Google!)
  • Click Path: The path of the user through HTML documents
  • Bounce Rate: When a user leaves a web portal or clicks again
  • Time of Permanence: The time that a user remains in a web portal
  • CTR: Linking page calls to clicks
  • Scrolling behavior: Does the user also look at what is not above "Above the Fold"?
  • What kind of search queries? Informational search queries, transactional search queries, navigation search queries
  • What could be the intention of the user? What do they want, what do they expect?

What is the importance of users for SEO?

User intent is an important ranking factor in SEO. User behavior and interests play an important role in listing on search engine results pages. Search engines like Google try to match the results of a search with the needs of the user. Google obtains this knowledge by changing the places in a search history and observing the effects on user behavior. Google will rate the fact that a web portal is not or is only rarely clicked, even though it appears first or second negatively. The web portal does not appear to be relevant to users. It can also have the result that the web portal is eliminated from the top 10 positions and slides down. Therefore, it is reduce click-through rate in the search results. The behavior of the user of clicking on the back button and choosing a different search result is particularly noticeable, because this means that the web portal has not been of any use to the user and therefore exits quickly.

But it's not always like this. If a user is looking for a quick answer to a short question, they will leave the site after finding their answer. Instead, user behavior or User Experience is the focus of attention.
