What is the Ad Ranking?

Ad Ranking is a definition coined within the Google Ads environment. It is a value with which you can indicate which ads will be shown and, at the same time, where they will appear compared to others against which they compete. A concept to pay attention to and, especially, to check when developing campaigns within this advertising platform.

It is something that is calculated based on the amount invested in the bids, the quality of the ad that is produced throughout the auction procedure, the searches in which it will appear, the influence of other ads and also the thresholds of ranking by which it can move.

It is not something fixed, since it is recalculated every little time to move the ads accordingly. The fluctuation of the competition and the other values that we have pointed out before make these positions vary and, therefore, also the ranking of the ad does. Something that, at the same time, forces advertisers to take into account to assess whether it is appropriate to make some kind of modification to the campaign in order to improve it.

Something born with the purpose of determining a hierarchy and an order in searches and the disposition of commercial promotion within the SERPs, at the same time as in other platforms within the Google display network. The ranking of the advertisement is used so that there is a better control of the commercial promotion that is shown on different websites based on its quality and its success with the needs of consumers, as well as the established budget and other factors. It is something that gives more visibility to brands that make good ads and, at the same time, makes it easier for consumers to find real quality products.

An approach that at the same time encourages competitiveness and encourages brands not to settle down, even when it also complicates their work when positioning their advertising formats on the Internet. It has some benefits, but also certain disadvantages.
