Many Windows 10 users report that they are unable to download certain games or apps from the Microsoft Store. The error code that appears is 0x87E10BD0. In most cases, the error code is preceded by the error message “Something has happened and the purchase cannot be completed. In most cases, the error message appears a few seconds after downloading a game or app. I know the problem seems to be limited to Windows 10 only.

Reset the Windows Store cache.

To do this, proceed as follows.

a. On the desktop, press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.

B. Type wsreset.exe and press Enter.

Troubleshoot in the Windows Store

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type WSReset.exe, and then click OK.
  3. The store opens and the following message appears: The store cache has been cleared. You can now search for apps in the store.

Sign in with your Microsoft account.

If you encounter the problem downloading an app, the error may be triggered because you are not signed in with your Microsoft account. Several affected users reported that they had successfully resolved the issue by going to the Accounts tab and signing in with their Microsoft account.

This solution is not obvious because Microsoft is not doing a good job of identifying the perpetrator. Regardless, if you encounter the issue with apps or any other games while downloading from Microsoft Store, follow these steps to make sure you're signed in with your Microsoft account.

Rebuild AUInstallAgent

It turns out that this particular problem can also occur due to a damaged AUInstallAgent folder. Several concerned users reported that they were able to fix the issue after taking the approach of restoring the AUInstallAgent folder, essentially forcing windows to create a new healthy folder from scratch.

Most problems with the Microsoft Store are in fact caused by a corrupted AuInstallAgent.

Perform network troubleshooting

Windows 10 offers a built-in network troubleshooting service. You can reset adapters, clear cache settings, etc. Make sure to run it, then try downloading the setup file again.
